Celebrating World Diabetes Day 2019 in Iceland

Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland looked great early this morning all covered in blue lights to celebrate World Diabetes Day!

Lighting of iconic monuments to mark World Diabetes Day began in 2007. Since then every year, thousands of sites and buildings around the world have proudly worn the blue colour to raise awareness of diabetes. These landmark illuminations are a testimony of support and provide a strong visual signal to draw attention to the diabetes cause.

An example of iconic monuments that have been lit in blue are the Pyramids in Egypt, London Eye, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, Niagara Falls, Empire State Building in New York, Kuwait Towers, Colosseum in Rome and the Burj al Arab in Dubai.

Every blue lighting and blue circle on display counts, no matter how big or small!
